One-day training workshops are available to refine rehabilitation professionals’ ability to administer and score the CMSA. The objective of the workshop is to provide the participants with the knowledge and skills to enable them to use the measure as both a clinical and research assessment tool. This training workshop has been shown to be an effective method to train users in person or remotely. The workshops are available in French and in English.
During the one-day workshop, video and PowerPoint presentations and group discussions are used to educate the participants about the administrative and scoring guidelines of the CMSA. Lectures include information about the development of the measure, psychometric properties, and clinical application. Video clips of patient assessment are used to facilitate learning and discussion. All participants will receive a CMSA manual and handouts. At the end of the workshop, the scoring competency of the participants is assessed/tested. All participants will receive written feedback via email regarding their performance on the test. Participants will also receive a certificate of attendance. These are distributed within four weeks after the workshop. CMSA training workshops are offered to individuals quarterly at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, University Centre, or they can be organized as a local workshop by interested organizations/facilities/professional groups.
