What are my treatment options?
Mynd Move Treatment offered by Mynd Tec Inc
NI-NM therapy where electrodes are put on the skin over the muscles to be stimulated. Patients are then instructed by a trained Mynd Move therapist to actively attempt to engage their muscles in a desired movement, sending signals from the brain to the muscle.

Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS)
Involves applying a magnetic pulse to specific areas of the brain, altering electrical activity. This can aid in affecting certain areas in the brain that are underactive or overactive.
Where can I find treatment?
Harquil Centre for Neuromodulation – located at the Sunnybrook research institute provides non-invasive neuromodulation, and some minimally invasive modulation techniques for patients with brain disorders such as: Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, ALS, essential tremor, major depression, OCD, and others.
Hypoglossal Stimulation
The PoNS is made up of a controller and mouthpiece. This device is used while engaging in movement and coordination tasks to promote neuroplasticity, activating brain pathways to improve function.
The PoNS device is attached to the surface of the tongue, because the tongue has a large cortical representation, and has direct connections to the brainstem.
The flow of neural impulses that are sent through the tongue stimulate the cranial nerves which create a flow of neural impulses that are directly delivered into the brain stem - which is the main control center for many functions, including sensory perception, movement, and balance
PoNS therapy has conducted many clinical studies across the globe proving that many advances can be made to the neuroplasticity in the brain, as well as improved gait for patients with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) & mild-to moderate traumatic brain injuries, through using PoNS along with physical therapy.
Where can I find treatment?
Transcutaneous Spinal Cord Stimulation
This is where electrodes are placed on the skin and used to stimulate the spinal circuitries through an electrical current - this is done to facilitate a motor response. Specifically in areas where a person with spinal cord injury (SCI) can have affected motor function.
Transcutaneous Cortical Stimulation
Electrodes are placed on the surface of the brain, these electrodes then deliver an electric current lasting 2 to 10 seconds.
Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES)
Electrical currents are applied to the skin over a nerve which causes muscles to contract - this type of NI-NM is typically used for stroke patients, as well as patients with spinal cord injury who have been paralyzed or partially paralyzed. - the goal is to stimulate muscle contraction.
